Lucille F. Sullivan-Spring, 96, of Manchester, passed away peacefully in her home on January 8, 2021 surrounded by family.
Born in Saint-Wenceslas, Quebec, Canada on August 7, 1924, she was the daughter of Arthur and Cecile Constant. She had two brothers, Marcel Constant of Saint-Wenceslas and Arthur Constant of Montreal, both deceased. At the age of 4, after the death of her parents, Lucille immigrated to New Hampshire to live with her Aunt Therese and Uncle Wilfred Brule. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester, however always remained close with her family in Canada through regular calls and summer visits.
Lucille is fondly remembered as the proprietor of Lucille's Variety store on Brook Street where she met her first husband, John F. Sullivan. They married in August 1952 and had five children. Lucille's Variety closed shortly after John's passing in 1976. Lucille then worked at Elliot Hospital and New Hampshire College (currently SNHU) as the cashier in the cafeterias. Lucille remarried in 1984 to Jeremiah J. Spring and enjoyed 23 years together before his passing in 2007.
Lucille was a devout Catholic belonging to first Saint George Parish and later Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester. She was the beloved matriarch of our family and actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grandmaman.
She is survived by her five children, Louise Sullivan, Barbara Raulerson, Michael Sullivan and his wife Gloria, Arthur Sullivan and his partner Lisa Dougherty, and Paula Sullivan Woods and her husband Alton; eight grandchildren, Amy (Raulerson) Gabriel, Christopher Sullivan, Robert Raulerson, Sabrina (Raulerson) Ngo, Kara Sullivan, Jonathan Woods, Erica Woods and Ashley Sullivan; one great-grandchild Olivia Gabriel and many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Cathedral, 439 Pine St., Manchester. Please wear a mask and observe all social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille's honor to NH Catholic Charities.
