Lucy always said her secret to longevity was that she liked to smile. She put a smile on the faces of everyone she met. She always put family first and treasured spending time with them and her dear friends. She loved to travel and take cruises and enjoyed making crafts of all kinds. Never one to shy away from new things, Lucy showed her enormous talent by starting to paint at the age of 90. Lucy volunteered for several years at Prime Time and the City Hall in Manchester.
In 1936, Lucy married the late Arthur Houle and they settled in Washington, DC for 30 years. She is now reunited with her beloved son, the late Paul Houle. Later in life, Lucy settled in Florida, where she met and married the late Gabriel "Gabe" Corriveau, and was welcomed into his family by his children Dorothy (Corriveau) Renzi, the late Raymond Corriveau and the late Armand Corriveau and his loving wife Nancy who performed their ceremony. Lucy returned home to Manchester to stay twenty years ago.
Lucy will be forever missed by many cherished and attentive nieces, and nephews, spanning 5 generations, but especially her nephew the late Gerry Ouellette of Manchester, Bert Ouellette and his wife Camille of Andover, MA, her niece Irene (Ouellette) Yull and her husband Jeff of No. Reading, MA, and Lucille Edgarian of San Antonio, TX, who were like her own children.
Lucy was the last of five siblings and was pre-deceased by Lauriana (Tremblay)McBrearty/Tremblay , Emile Tremblay, Delia (Tremblay) Fortin, Lillian (Ouellette) Therrien/Masse, and Oliver "PeeWee" Ouellette all of Manchester, NH.
Lucy wishes to thank all her loving family caregivers, and the wonderful staff and LNAs from The Meetinghouse at Riverfront and VNA Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester. Interment will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy's name may be made to St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester, NH 03102.
