She was born in Berlin, NH on March 14, 1920, the daughter of Stanislas and Ludwika (Ostroska) Snitko. Lydia graduated from Berlin High School. She worked for both the Telephone Company and JF McElwain Company, as a switchboard operator. Prior to her retirement in 1985, she worked as a receptionist with Computervision.
Lydia enjoyed playing cards with her husband Roland, and their friends. She loved to bake, shop and entertain family and friends in her home. She was described as very strong willed and enjoyed her working career, but more so enjoyed her family and had a special love for her grandchildren.
Lydia was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Roland E. Paradis, in April 2013. Family members include, one son, Steven Paradis and his wife Denise of Goffstown; one daughter, Judith Tellier of Rochester, NY; three grandsons, Andre-Paul Tellier of Rochester, NY, Timothy Paradis and his wife Emma, of Bedford, NH, and Mark Paradis and his wife Christine, of Monroe, CT; a great grand daughter, Prudence Paradis; one sister, Alfreda "Tootsie" Pillsbury of NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Theodore and Alexander Snitko; and two sisters, Mary Corbett and Stella Goode.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Parish of Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, NH 03102. Committal prayers followed in St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Teresa Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 519 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104.
