Lynn C. Makere

April 6, 1955 — March 1, 2024

Manchester, NH

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lynn C. [Stevens] Makere, 68, on March 1, 2024, in Manchester, NH.

Lynn was born on April 6, 1955, in Manchester, to Oren H. and Beverly M. [Brown] Stevens, to whom she was ever devoted.

From a young age, Lynn displayed a love of animals and talent for music and art, winning recognition for her watercolors.

She attended Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia and Arizona State University, where she graduated with a degree in graphic design. She had a successful career in visual design, merchandising and marketing for department stores and brands including Macy’s and Timberland, which took her all over the world and earned her the nickname “Lynn-ternational”. Post-retirement she joined Lowe’s in a role she loved with people she adored.

She was married for many years to her husband, Shawn J. Makere, with whom she shared spontaneous adventures and hilarious hijinks, like quests for roadside Mid-Century Modern treasures, rides to their favorite spots and the relocation of a rustic cabin from Hill, NH to their backyard, which Lynn expertly decorated with her singular vision and style.

For all of Lynn's successes, she considered her daughter, Alyssa, her prize in life. The two shared a special bond, built on a love of shopping, sweet treats and travel, which included a recent trip to Magnolia and the Silos in Waco, TX just one month ago. Together Lynn and Alyssa took the world by storm, leaving echoes of unbridled laughter, silliness, singing, dancing and profound love in their wake.

Lynn was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, especially those of the four-legged variety. She was a larger-than-life personality in a petite but powerful and always impeccably dressed frame. She possessed unmatched energy, fierce determination and impressive biceps. She was hilarious, quick-witted, clever and always in-the-know and ahead of the curve in culture, design, and style.

She had a knack for making ordinary moments memorable and the mundane magical. She used her envy-worthy penmanship for beautiful cards and tags that accompanied perfect gifts. She adored her family, friends, co-workers, pets, skiing, her home, pool and garden, Ogunquit Beach, Barnacle Billy’s, Stowe, VT, Zermatt, Switzerland, “The Sound of Music,” her Airstream trailer, Steiff collection, and an overcooked hot dog.

Lynn will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her husband, Shawn J. Makere, her daughter, Alyssa C. Sanbar and son-in-law, Fadi P. Sanbar, her two brothers, Bruce H. Stevens and his wife, Susan, Mark H. Stevens and his wife, Jill, her nieces and nephews, Katherine Stevens, Rebecca Woitkowski, James Stevens and Jeff Stevens, many cherished friends and those who lovingly called her “Momma Lynn”.

At her request, there will be no services or calling hours, but Lynn will be honored with a Celebration of Life this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lynn’s memory to The Kilham Bear Center or the NH Audubon Society.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester is assisting the family with arrangements.  Updated information of her Celebration of Life will be posted on this obituary once it is scheduled.
