M. Ralph Dieter, 92, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, after a long illness. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 13, 1933, to the late Jacob Dieter and Helen (Cottrell) Dieter.
Ralph graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA before joining the U.S. Air Force. He served as a radio operator in Japan and the Philippines during the Korean War. After returning home, he met and married Alberta Kylor and then attended electronics school in Washington D.C.
Ralph worked as an electronics engineer in California, New York, and then for Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA and later in Merrimack, NH. He worked with the Boy Scouts for over fifty years, starting with his son, David, in 1970 in Bolton, MA and then in Bedford, NH. He was also an active member of the VFW.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife: Alberta of 70 years; his son: David; daughter: Susan Johnson; and grandchildren: Sarah and Micah Johnson.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester from 3pm to 6pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Rd., Bedford at 1pm. Burial with military honors will follow across the street at Bedford Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s name can be made to the Bedford Boy Scout Troop 414 or the Bedford Presbyterian Church.
