Marcel A. Rene, 76 of Manchester died on August 29th, 2003 at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Manchester, August 30, 1926, he was the son of Romeo and Jocelyn (Lacasse) Rene. He was a lifelong Manchester resident who graduated from Central High school in 1944.
He was an Army veteran of World War II reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in the Pacific Theater. He achieved M1-Garand Sharpshooter status. He later served 10 years with the US Army Reserves.
He worked as a Statistical Claims Analyst for AIG / NH Insurance Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked within the Market Pac Division of NH Insurance until it was dissolved.
Mr. Rene was a communicant of St. George Church until it's closing, and at present a member of St. Catherine Church. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery.
Family members include his wife of 52 years, Theresa L. (Lacerte) Rene of Manchester; a son, Donald A. Rene a daughter-in-law Lynn Marshall-Rene both of Manchester; a sister Juliette Belairof Manchester; 2 nieces.
Mr. Rene was an avid bowler & participated in many tournaments. He loved traveling to the western US and Alaska and also visiting the Prudhoe Bay Oil Fields and numerous national parks.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday September 2, 2003 in St. Catherine's Church, Webster St, Manchester, NH.
Encryptment was in Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
