Margaret “Peg” (Gallant) Gunzelman, 88, lifelong resident of Manchester died peacefully January 29, 2025 at home.
Born in Manchester on July 11, 1936, she was the daughter of Leon and Eglantine (Manseau) Gallant. She graduated St. Joseph High School for Girls in 1953 and received an associate’s degree from Hesser College prior to earning her bachelor’s from Notre Dame College in 1968.
Margaret had been a teacher in the business department at Manchester West High School for many years before retirement. Additionally, she had worked at MKM Knitting Mills in their accounting department, 14 years at Reed Ferry Lumber and another 10 years at ABSCO in Manchester.
Peg was an avid tennis player who competed at both the local and State level and played weekly well into her 80’s. She was deeply devoted to her family and her pets, later in life she sang in the chorus at Sacred Heart church and enjoyed going to the theater with her friends.
She was a member of the NH Retired Teachers Association as well as the Manchester Retired Teachers Association.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard Gunzelman in 2010 and her brothers, Leon, George, Gilbert, Thomas Adrian and James Gallant and sister, Theresa Johnson.
She is survived by her Godson Brian Johnson and his wife Michelle of Pembroke, NH. Family members also include many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins, stepchildren and her lifelong friend, Pauline Gagnon.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester, will be Monday, February 3rd from 4 to 6 pm. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 am in Sacred Heart Church, So Main St, Manchester. Committal prayers will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
