Marguerite M. Charette

Sr. Marguerite Charette, PM (Sr. St. Arille), 85, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Manchester died May 4, 2003 at St. Joseph Residence, Manchester.

Born on October 31, 1917, she was the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Croteau) Charette. She entered the congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1935, made her first profession in 1938 and her final profession in 1943.

She earned a bachelor's degree from Catholic Teachers College in Providence, RI and a masters's degree from Rivier College in Nashua. She also studied at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and San Francisco State University in California.

Sr. Charette taught at parochial elementary schools for 12 years in Woonsocket, RI and in New Hampshire at Cascade and Stewartstown. She then taught high school grades for 30 years at Our Lady of the Mountains Academy in Gorham and Presentation of Mary Academy (PMA) in Hudson.

She was the debate team coach at PMA for 14 years and received the Merit Certificate for Debate and the National Forensic League Award from Georgetown University.

Sr. Charette also served as alumnae advisor at PMA and taught religious education summer school in Hillsboro.

The family includes a sister, Sr. Cecile Charette, CSC of Goffstown; a sister in law, Louise Willis of Albany, NY and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday May 9, 2003 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester was charge of arrangements.
