Mari Ellen DeBlois, 65, of Goffstown, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, with her beloved son by her side, following a brief illness.
Born on November 8, 1959, in Lebanon, NH, Mari was a proud graduate of Lebanon High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Studies with a minor in Merchandising from the University of New Hampshire.
Mari dedicated her life to serving others through her work in affordable housing. Her career began in 1988 with Consumer Credit Counseling Services as a Credit and Housing Counselor. In 2005, she joined The Way Home, where she specialized in supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness in southern New Hampshire. In May 2022, she brought her decades of experience and deep compassion to AHEAD, where she served as the organization’s lead expert in foreclosure prevention counseling.
As a HUD-Certified Housing Counselor, Mari held numerous NCHEC certifications through NeighborWorks America and completed hundreds of professional training courses over her distinguished career—including an impressive 46 in her short time at AHEAD. As the state’s sole foreclosure counselor during the NH Homeowner Assistance Fund program, her expertise and commitment made an immeasurable impact—not only within AHEAD, but across the entire State of New Hampshire. She was widely respected for always going the extra mile to ensure her clients received the very best care and support.
Beyond her professional life, Mari was a woman of deep faith and enduring devotion. She served as Co-President of the Parish of the Transfiguration Women’s Club for over 30 years, giving generously of her time and spirit to her church community.
Mari found joy in creating meaningful family traditions, especially during her cherished vacations in Lincoln, NH. Her favorite holiday, Christmas, was a season she infused with warmth, magic, and inclusion—making it special for everyone around her. Her greatest source of pride was her family, whom she loved unconditionally and supported fiercely.
Mari will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, adoring "Mimi," sister, aunt, and loyal friend. Her compassion, faith, and selfless nature touched countless lives, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Brigitte A. Paquin and husband David of Dunbarton, and son Chase D. DeBlois of Goffstown; granddaughters Lydia J. Paquin and Melanie M.
