Sister Marie Claire Lamy, PM (Lucienne A. Lamy), 90, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, died July 10, 2008 at St. Joseph Residence in Manchester.

Born in Manchester, April 11, 1918, she was the daughter of Ovila and Marie-Leda (Gariepy) Lamy.

She entered the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Canada in 1936 and made her First Profession in 1939 and her Final Profession in 1944.

Sister Lamy earned her Bachelor Degree in Commercial Science from Bryant Business College in Rhode Island and a Master's Degree in business education from Boston University.

She taught at St. Mary's Boarding School in Island Pond, VT from 1939 until 1941. She then joined the teaching staff in the business department at Rivier College in Nashua where she served as Dean of Studies from 1960 until 1973. She was then assigned to the Provincial Administration as Councilor and in 1974 was named Assistant Provincial. From 1975 until 1987 she served as Councilor to the General Administration in Castel Gandolfo, Italy. In 1988 she was appointed Regional Assistant of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Exeter, England. She retired in 1991 to the Marie Rivier Community in Hudson and in 2006 was transferred to the St. Joseph Residence in Manchester.

Family members include five brothers, Armand Lamy, Laurent Lamy, Leo Lamy, Raymond Lamy, and Roger Lamy, all of Manchester; four sisters, Irene Laverdiere of Portsmouth, Laurette Pelchar of Manchester, Claire Browning of Hooksett, and Therese Doucet of Rochester; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, July 12, 2008 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
