Sister Marie Roy, PM, (Sr. Gerard de Ste-Marie), 89, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH died September 5, 2003, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Born February 12, 1914, in Robertsonville, Quebec, she was the daughter of Edouard and Anna (Buteau) Roy. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1939, made her first profession in 1941, and her final profession in 1947. Sister Roy received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in French, from Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

An accomplished educator for 43 years, she taught primary and elementary grades at St. Andre and Stella Maria in Biddeford, ME, for 4 years; Guardian Angel and St. Joseph School in Berlin, NH for 16 years; St. Charles in Dover, NH for 10 years, and St. Marie Elementary in Manchester, NH for 13 years. She served as church sacristan for 15 years and ministered at Rivier College during summer sessions for 24 years. She retired in 1984.

Family members include a brother, Gerard Roy of Westbrook, ME; several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday September 8, 2003 in the Resurrection Chapel.

Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH, was in charge of arrangements.
