Martha L. Butkus, 85, of Bedford, died February 15, 2018 after a brief illness.
She was born in Hartford, CT on November 4, 1932, the daughter of Howard and Katherine (Halstead) Anderson. She was a graduate of Manchester Central High School and attended Fitchburg State College. She worked as a Lab Technician for many years at Gardner Memorial Hospital in Gardner, MA and ended her career as a Private Caretaker in New Hampshire.
Martha was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. Her true passion was to watch her grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed traveling and taking long drives in the country, making puzzles and purposely collecting belated greeting cards which she felt were much funnier to send to friends and family. She was a "true republican" who never missed an opportunity to show her support at every local election. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Family includes three sons, Jack Anderson of Manchester, David Butkus of Manchester, and the late Robert Butkus (2012); three grandchildren, Adam Butkus and wife Jen of St. Petersburg, FL, Ashley Butkus and Matthew Butkus, both of Manchester; two great grandchildren, Thomas and Joseph Butkus of St. Petersburg, FL and one brother, John Anderson and wife Kay of Danvers, MA. She was predeceased by two grandchildren Sarah and Kaitlyn Butkus.
A Service of Remembrance was held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Manchester Little League, P.O. Box 4027, Manchester, NH 03108.
