Martin Carlyle Smith, 80, of Bedford, died August 17, 2007 surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn NY, July 4, 1927, and was the son of Harry Clinton and Helene E. (Martin) Smith Jr. He was a native of Huntington, Long Island, NY, and spent many years in Northport NY before moving to Bedford.

Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Seize and the U.S.S. Kingfisher during World War II. He was a member of Saint Elizabeth Seton Parish as well as the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH and the American Legion.

Mr. Smith was an avid golfer and NY Giant's fan having attended three NY Giants Super- Bowls. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating on the lakes of New Hampshire and Maine, Long Island Sound, and the gulf coast of Florida. He most cherished spending time with his four children and five grandchildren.

IN HIS LIFE: Family members include his wife of 55 years, Patricia M. (Murray) Smith, of Bedford; his children, Maureen P. Guglielmino, and her husband Peter, of Windham, Martin C. Smith Jr., and his wife Judy, of Bedford, Kerry S. Brooks, and her husband Jeff, of Bedford, Scott C. Smith, of Riverdale NY; his grandchildren, Kara L. Guglielmino, Danielle S. Brooks, Derek S. Guglielmino, Lyle M. Smith and Beau S. Brooks; his sister, Mary Jayne Honan of Virginia Beach, VA

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday August 21, 2007 in Saint Elizabeth Seton Church Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford.

Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St. Bedford.

Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice House, 22 Prospect St., Nashua, NH.
