She was born in Manchester on February 18, 1938, the daughter of Harold R. and Ellen A. (McSweeney) Putnam. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Girls. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Anselm College.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a registered nurse by the Catholic Medical Center for many years. She had previously worked as a nurse at the Elliot Hospital and also taught pediatrics at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years.
Mary loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed outings at Old Orchard Beach.
Family members include her children, Colleen (Bryan) Cantin and her husband Daniel of Manchester, Donald Bryan and his wife Leslie of Manchester, Shannon (Bryan) Syrene and husband Scott of Manchester; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Ellen Vincent and her husband Bill of Hooksett; several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Eugenia Demers in 1976.
The funeral service was on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
