Mary J. Darling

Mary J. (Whooley) Darling, 75, of Columbia, KY, died February 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in County Cork, Ireland on November 9, 1938, the daughter of Patrick and Anne Whooley. Mary was educated in the town of Skibbereen in Cork.

She worked for Owens-Illinois as the human resource manager in Newburyport, MA, prior to her retirement in 2003.

Mary will be remembered as a hardworking, gregarious, caring woman who enjoyed spending time socializing and laughing with others. A very nurturing woman, she loved animals and spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. Her wonderful sense of humor and genuine friendship will be missed by all who knew her.

Family members include her husband of 45 years Francis Darling of Columbia, KY; two sons, William F. Darling of Dunbarton, NH, Robert E. Darling and wife Julie of Dunbarton; two step-sons, Lee P. Darling and wife Lori of Manchester, Joseph M. Darling of Newmarket; three step-daughters, Anne Marie Dowler and husband Robert of York, ME, Patricia A. Nesbitt and husband Robert of Merrimack, Jeanne M. Darling of Billerica, MA; two grandsons, Luke and Samuel Darling, both of Dunbarton; eight step-grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, Scott, Jennifer, Kristen, Joseph Jr., Katie and Robbie; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Caleb and Emma; two brothers, Emmet and Kevin Whooley; one sister, Anne Horkan; several nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother Patrick Whooley Jr.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester.
