Mary B. Gates, 90, of Manchester died July 15, 2018 at Birch Hill Terrace with family members by her side.
Born in Lock Haven, PA, on October 27, 1927, she was the daughter of Dr. Clair and Mary Bauman and grew up in Waterville, ME. She attended Northfield School for Girls in Mount Herman, MA and received a bachelor's degree from Colby College.
After raising her family in White Plains, NY, she was the well-known business owner of "Mary of Westchester", specializing in estate sales.
Mary enjoyed skiing at Sugarloaf in Maine, spending her summers at the family camp at Lake Winnipesaukee, and wintering in Longboat Key, FL.
Family members include her husband of 70 years, Alfred Gates; her children, Linda Bates of Wilmette, IL, Jerome Gates and wife Lorraine of Moultonborough, NH, Brenda Gallagher and husband Dr. John of Lyme, NH, Leslie Gates of Danbury, CT, Roy Gates and wife Ale of Mesa, AZ, Dr. Alfred Gates and wife Kathy of Moodus, CT, Mary Szyman and husband Robert of St. Charles, IL; as well as 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
SERVICES: Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
