At 1:30pm on May 25, 2018 Mary-Lynn Belforti passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Mary-Lynn requested that we write her a "fancy" obituary, but anyone who truly knew M-L knows that there is nothing fancy about her. She was a very easy going, down to earth person who always told you what she thought. She was well known for her sense of humor and her puns; her sassy, quick wit and her laughter. Mary-Lynn's stubborn streak runs deep. A trait that she inherited from her mother, who resides in Colorado.
Mary-Lynn made many friends through her involvement with a variety of organizations. At one time she thoroughly enjoyed her participation with the Amherst Railway Society and the Bedford Boomers. She loved creating scenery for the model railroading events. She received a great deal of pleasure from teaching others how to design elaborate scenes, but most of all she loved watching the amazed reactions when people realized the simplicity of what it took to make her creations.
As an avid hockey fan, M-L has been a regular attendee at the Manchester Monarchs games since their inaugural season. She was an active member of the Monarchs Booster Club for years. Some of her favorite events included bus trips, the At Your Service Dinner, and the annual AHL Booster Club Convention. She thoroughly enjoyed the festive gatherings of the Booster Club and she loved her hockey family dearly.
Mary-Lynn has been a participant of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life as a part of Team Cohas Connection for the past 8 years. M-L spent countless hours helping to raise funds to support local cancer patients and their families. She was a familiar face at the overnight walk each year, helping to honor cancer survivors and fight for a cure.
In more recent years M-L became a volunteer for the Manchester Animal Shelter. A diehard kitty lover, she took the affection she had for her own four-legged children and shared that love with the shelter kitties awaiting adoption at PetSmart. She looked forward to her time playing with the cats, but even more so spending time with the people she met through volunteering there.
Above all else Mary-Lynn's greatest sense of pride was derived from her family. She shared many hobbies with her husband, Steven. Together they were often seen traveling to away games and train shows, and they shared those interests with their grandchildren as often as they could. Mary-Lynn was exceptionally proud of her children and grandchildren, and of all of their accomplishments. She bragged about them to anyone who would listen. She loved showing pictures of her three great-granddaughters, who she lovingly referred to as "the Littles."
Mary-Lynn will be remembered fondly by many who knew her, and perhaps not as fondly by others. Yet, in the end it is hard to deny that she has touched the lives of innumerable people. Her only request is that her legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
At Mary-Lynn's request there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration with her family
and friends will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to
the Community Hospice House of Merrimack or Manchester Animal Shelter.
