Mary J. McGuiness

Mary Jean (Palreiro) McGuiness, 78, of Manchester, NH died February 7, 2010 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL after a period of declining health.

She was born in Chicago, IL on August 3, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Palreiro. She was educated in the Manchester school system and was a graduate of Manchester High School Central.

Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a legal secretary.

Mary was always active volunteering her time to support her local community. She was the past president of both the Junior Club of NH and the Women's Club of NH as well as a member of the Manchester Mothers of Twins Club. In 1976, she organized within the Manchester school department a program to help student's celebrate our country's bicentennial by elaborately decorating many of the city's fire hydrants.

Since retirement, she enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and above all else loved spending time with her family and many friends.

Family members include her husband of 54 years, Clifford P. McGuiness of Manchester; her children, Timothy McGuiness of Candia, NH; Bruce McGuiness and his wife Tami of Augusta, GA; Brian McGuiness and his wife Kimberly of Cave Spring, GA; John McGuiness of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Brandon and Megan McGuiness and Julia McGuiness; one brother, Joseph Palreiro; two sisters, Rose Marie Moody and Shirley Gurgold; many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Frederick Palreiro and sisters Lorraine O'Neil, Doris Garelli, and Frances Ingles.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Raphael Church on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Committal services followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St, Bedford.
