Mary Jane Olivares

Mary Jane Olivares, 64, of Manchester died February 4, 2005 at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Cockedale, CO on March 28, 1940, she was the daughter of Jose Santos Olivares and Maria de la paz Sapien. She grew up in Mexico, then lived 10 years in Los Angeles, CA before moving to Manchester.

She worked at NH Insurance Company and at Manchester Emergency Housing for many years. She had also worked at the Wish Center in Manchester.

She volunteered as an interpreter for Spanish speaking citizens of Manchester and at the Latin American Center in Manchester. She also helped organize the original celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Joseph Cathedral. This celebration continues today at St. Augustin Church in Manchester.

The family includes a son, David Olivares of Nashua; two grandchildren; three sisters, Veronica Dionne of Hollywood, CA, Emma Olivares of Los Angeles, CA and Marcella Baltazar of Southgate, CA; a brother, David Olivares of El Monte, CA and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday February 11, 2005 in St. Anne-St. Augustin Church, corner of Beech and Spruce streets, Manchester. Burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery, So. Beech St., Manchester.
