Mary Paul, of Plantation, FL., formerly of Manchester, N.H., died Sunday night, June 2, 2024, just 8 days after her 89th birthday.
Mary was born in Manchester, where she lived for 83 years on the west side of the city, in the home in which she was raised. After graduating from St. Marie’s High School, she served as a Novice Nun in Montreal, Canada. She returned to Manchester to assist her aging parents. She obtained her N.H. driver’s license in her 40’s so that she could take her Parents shopping and to doctors’ appointments.
Mary was a devout Catholic and never went far without her Rosary Beads. Later, Mary worked at Catholic Medical Center as a medical records clerk. She was Recognized as “Employee of the Year” more than once. After retirement, Mary worked as a TSA Agent at the Boston/Manchester Airport, and in the Bakery Department at the local Supermarket.
Mary enjoyed gardening, listening to music, decorating for all the holidays (especially St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas and Easter), young children and babies, antiques, Victorian-era clothing, all things old-fashioned, the scent of fresh lilacs and anything homemade- especially food. She had a sweet tooth- she loved chocolate, and more recently, Key Lime Pie.
Mary’s final years were spent in Florida with her family, who doted on her and would do anything to make her smile and laugh. Although she missed N.H. terribly, she found camaraderie and care in Plantation, under the watchful eye of her dear sister, Joan Shea. She enjoyed Friday Pizza Night and Sunday dinner with those who loved her.
Mary was the loving daughter of Henry and Leona (Godbout) Paul and brother Norman, all who predeceased her. Mary leaves behind many other family members to mourn her, including: sisters Pauline (Richard- deceased) Gosselin and Joan (Richard- deceased) Shea, both of Plantation, sister-in-law Susan (Hall) Paul, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the many physicians and nurses, physical and occupational therapists, both in N.H. and Florida, who cared for Mary as her health declined. Gratitude is extended to N.H. neighbors Jeanne Chamberland, as well as Linda and Lee Aubin and the entire Pineault family, for their unconditional love and support. Special appreciation goes out to nurse Aimee Goldstone, who helped Mary enourmously in her last months.
As per Mary’s request, a private service was held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge Street, Manchester, N.H. 03104-5495.
