Born in Worcester, MA on March 28, 1947, he was the son of Matthew and Elizabeth (Foley) Sochalski. He lived in Londonderry for 35 years.
He graduated from St. Anselm College in 1969 and played on the varsity basketball team. He also graduated from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1972.
Dr. Sochalski served in the US Army as a captain in the dental corps in Anniston, AL in 1973 and 1974. He later had a private practice as a dentist in Methuen, MA.
He served four terms as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Londonderry. During that time he served on the governor's Commission on Disability, and as chairman of the Health and Human Services Commission. He was also a partner and lobbyist for Medical Management Services in Concord.
IN HIS LIFE: Dr. Sochalski was a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, and was a board member for the Granite State Independent Living Foundation. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mark's Church and the American Legion Post 27 both in Londonderry.
He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer.
The family includes his wife of 37 years, Arlene (Notini) Sochalski of Londonderry; a daughter, Minta Saab of Hooksett; four grandchildren, Madelyn Saab, Julia Saab, Elise Saab and Michael Saab; a brother, Daniel Sochalski of Stella, NC; an aunt, Marguerite Leland of Brewster, MA; a longtime friend, Robert Szklarz of Leicester, MA; cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Mark's Church, 1 South Rd., Londonderry. Burial was private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
