Maurice A. Remillard

February 3, 1930 — May 15, 2025

Maurice Armand Remillard, 95, of Jaffrey, NH, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025.

Born on February 3, 1930, in Goffstown, NH, Maurice was the son of Alphonse Remillard and Alice (Bouchard) Remillard. He was one of eleven children and was predeceased by all ten of his siblings.

Maurice proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the elite Special Forces Green Berets. He also served in the National Guard and Army Reserves, where he rose to the rank of Captain. Professionally, he built a long and successful career as a Regional Staff Manager with John Hancock Insurance, retiring in 1984. During his career, Maurice also built a successful real estate business and while renovating several of his multi-unit apartment complexes, taught his sons the basics of several trades including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.

A devoted husband, Maurice was married to Lorraine T. (Soucy) Remillard for 46 years until her passing. Together they raised a family rooted in love, laughter, and deep connection. He is predeceased by their daughter, Alice (Remillard) Chabot, and their son, Thomas Remillard.

Maurice’s greatest joy was his family. Some of his happiest times were spent on camping trips, fishing with his kids, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and bringing Christmas magic to life for his children and grandchildren.

After retirement, Maurice and Lorraine traveled extensively and later settled in St. Petersburg, Florida. There, he enjoyed a vibrant social life filled with bowling, shuffleboard, card games, and storytelling. He also found joy in woodworking—especially making toys for his grandchildren—and was known for his warmth, humor, and steady presence.

Maurice is survived by his children: David Remillard and his wife Susan of Alfred, ME; Mark Remillard and his wife Dorine of Auburn, NH; and Judith Remillard of Allenstown, NH; as well as his daughter-in-law, Adele Remillard of Jaffrey, NH. He leaves behind twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jeannette Soucy and Lucille Boucher.
