Maurice E. April, 92, of Port Charlotte, FL and longtime resident of Manchester, NH passed away on August 9, 2022 after a long and beautiful life. For those who knew Maurice, he touched many lives with his care and compassion for others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

            Born in Nashua on March 6, 1930, Maurice (Moe) was the son of Emile I. and Lena (Leclerc) April.  After graduating from Nashua High School, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict prior to his honorable discharge in 1955.

            Moe attended the New England Institute of Anatomy and Embalming graduating in 1956.  He also attended the Civil Service School Institute of New York.

            In 1956, Moe became a licensed funeral director in the State of NH and was employed by Anctil Funeral Home in Nashua. He and his wife Lorraine moved to Manchester in 1957 where he took a position with the former Letendre Funeral Service. In 1972, he joined McHugh Funeral Home serving as a funeral director, then as general manager until his retirement in 2003.

            Moe was an active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Manchester, where he participated in many of the church’s ministry groups

            He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine C. (Tremblay) April in 2004.

            Family members include his daughter, Karen April Hamlin and husband Gregg of Lowell, MA; his son, Steven M. April and wife Valerie of Auburn, NH; his grandchildren, Nathan Hamlin, Ciara and Colton April; his longtime significant other, Madeleine Lussier and her family; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

            Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, NH will be Sunday, August 14th from 3 to 7 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St, Manchester, NH on Monday, August 15 at 10 am.  Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Nashua.
