Maurice A. Beliveau, of Bedford, NH, 95, passed away Monday September 25, 2023 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center in Manchester, NH after a period of declining health. He was born in Manchester, NH on February 24, 1928 to Idola and Violet (Allaire) Beliveau.
Maurice owned and operated United Plate Glass Company with his brother Marcel Beliveau for many years.
Maurice was a man of many interests and talents. He loved playing golf, and was a member of the Manchester County Club for 65 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fly-fishing and wrote a book illustrating the steps of fly tying called “The ABC’s of Fly Tying.” Maurice, often called “Bill” by his friends and “BroMoe” by his brothers, was a pilot and loved spending time in his Cessna 182 plane traveling with family and friends. Maurice loved to garden, and was a world-class carpenter, building many furniture pieces for his home. He was an accomplished artist, creating award-winning water colors and later dabbled in oil. He loved music, the arts, volunteered his time serving on many boards and was appointed the Commissioner of the Arts for the State of New Hampshire by Governor John Sununu.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Janet (Richardson) Beliveau, and two of his brothers, Marcel Beliveau and Jacques Beliveau. Maurice is survived by two brothers George Beliveau of Manchester, NH and Jean Beliveau and his wife Cheryl Beliveau of Moultonborough, NH and many loving nephews and nieces, especially Daniel Beliveau and Michael Beliveau who were always there to lend him a helping hand. Maurice is also survived by his longtime friend and companion Alix Porras.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 6th at 10 am at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester, NH. Committal will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
