Lifelong Manchester NH resident, Maurice Wilfred Champagne, age 96, died November 30, 2025 at Elliot Hospital following a stroke.
Born on October 25, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph Dorveny Champagne (dec. 1954) and Azilda (Desilets) Champagne (dec. 1984). He was raised alongside his beloved older sister Rita (dec. 2016), and the family maintained deep pride in their Black Lake, French-Canadian heritage.
After graduating from high school Maurice went to St. Anselm College and received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He pursued an engineering career in Boston. Two of Maurice’s passions were Cycling and photography. He could be seen cycling all around Manchester up until his 94th year.
Maurice was a beloved uncle to his nieces Catharine Nakajima West Lafayette, IN; Sister Patricia Thomas DSP Miami FL; Sister Helen Rita DSP Metairie LA; Sylvia Lane Chugiak AK (dec.); Theresa Lane Chugiak AK; Susan Lane Chugiak AK; and nephews, Thomas Lane Westford, VT, and James Lane, Woodland, WA (dec. 2021). He leaves behind a dear friend, Mary Wainwright, Manchester NH whose friendship enriched his later years as well as the new friends he made at Evergreen Place over the past several months.
Maurice will be remembered for his quiet humor, his curious, engineering mind, his passions of photography and cycling, and devotion to family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. with inurnment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester, NH.
