Born on October 20, 1932 in Manchester, NH, he was the son of Francois and Loretta (Dallaire) Maltais. He was educated in the local school system and attended Manchester High School West. A life-long resident of the city, he also proudly served in the US Army.
He is a retiree of Jewell Electronics Corporation and was formerly employed as a mechanical technician. An avid aviation enthusiast, he piloted his own private plane in earlier years. He was also a seasoned hunter, especially enjoying time spent with his grandson and former son-in-law Joseph Riccardi.
Family member include his wife Francoise (Lavoie) Maltais of Bedford; one daughter Martine Riccardi of Utica, New York; two grandchildren Sahra Riccardi of Philadelphia and one grandson Daniel Riccardi of Utica; two nieces, Tina Maltais of Manchester and Martha Ann Maltais of Pinardville; one nephew Roger Maltais of CA; several cousins. He was predeceased by one son Herve Maltais in June 2012; two brothers, Arthur and Roland Maltais; a sister-in-law Martha Maltais; a niece Mary-Ellen Maltais and several cousins.
The Maltais and Riccardi families would like to thank the entire staff at the Laurel Center for their kindness and compassion, with special thanks to Jean Dercy, social worker, Julie Normand, RN, Judy Davis, LPN and aid "Corky".
The families would also like to thank the Brookhaven Hospice team, especially Robert Hagopian, for their care and compassion in aiding in transitioning to a better life.
A memorial service was held on Friday, December 13, 2013 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St,. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
