Maurice W. Olivier

Maurice "Moe" W. Olivier, 79, of Manchester, died September 18, 2004 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of declining health.

He was born in Goffstown, NH on February 5, 1925, the son of Wilfrid and Eva (Sevigny) Olivier. He attended St. Edmond Grammar School and West High School.

He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He served in the 759th Tank Battalion and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He also earned Ribbons for participating in the Battle of Normandy and Britney, France.

Until his retirement, he had worked 17 years as a service clerk for the US Postal Service in Manchester. Prior to that, he had been employed by HP Hood Milk Company for 27 years. Since retirement, he had spent 4 months a year in Stuart, Florida.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 79. He was a 25 year member of the Century Club.

Mr. Olivier was a former parishioner of St. Edmond Church.

Members of his family include his wife of 58 years, Cecelia V. (Van Walle) Olivier of Manchester; One son David A. Olivier of Manchester; Three daughters, Donna O. Lemay, Debra A. Wilkins, and Jeanne C. Brisson, all of Manchester; 9 grandchildren; Three sisters, Rita Lebreque and Yvette Allard, both of Manchester, and Pauline Chauvrette of Claremont, NH; several nephews and nieces.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Joseph Cathedral on Wednesday September 22, 2004. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
