Maurice P. "Moe" Gravel, 90, of Manchester, died June 29, 2016, at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lowell, MA on September 22, 1925, the son of Joseph and Maria (Hamel) Gravel.
Moe attended St. Anthony School in Manchester. He served in the US Army for 3 years, during WWII, and was discharged at the rank of Private First Class. He worked as a carpenter for many years and retired from Hutter's Construction in 1996.
Moe loved to work. He was an amazing finish carpenter and a creator who could visualize a project and bring it to life without prints or plans. He made many crafts for the Girl Scout and had a passion for woodworking. Moe was a man who loved his family, his home and who always woke up happy every day. Above all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
The family includes his beloved wife of 67 years, Irene (Belisle) Gravel of Manchester; twin daughters, Linda Dube and husband Yves of Manchester, and Lena Paquette and husband Paul of Manchester; one son, David Gravel and wife Denise of Salem; three grandchildren, Heather Ciampi of Manchester, Lisa Place and husband Ron of Manchester, and Meagan Paquette of Damariscotta, ME; two great grandchildren, Norah and Bryan Place of Manchester; and one sister, Anita Gravel of Manchester. He was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne Ciampi in 1988, and several brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Anne / St. Augustin Church, 383 Beech St., Manchester. Committal prayers, along with military honors followed in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CRVNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301.
