Max R. Lein, 86, of Manchester, died October 15, 2005 at the Catholic Medical Center.
He was born in Manchester on April 12, 1919, the son of Max and Theresa (Blanc) Lein. He was educated in the local school system. During WWII, he served in the US Army and earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Prior to his retirement, he had been a cabinet maker with the Hermsdorf Company. He was a former member of Intervale Country Club.
Except for his service in WWII, he had lived his entire life in Manchester. With quiet dignity and unwavering kindness towards all, this "gentle" man made all who came in contact with him feel the warmth and trust he saw in his fellow man. Through all of his life's highs and lows, joys and triumphs, he remained calm and constant. His family and friends will miss this honest character who loved his city, his home, his children, and especially his wife.
He was predeceased by his daughter Colleen Azzi in 1980.
Members of his family include his wife of sixty-three years, Gloria (Keating) Lein of Manchester; one son, Daniel Lein of Willimantic, CT; two grandchildren; one sister, Florence Maker of Manchester; many nephews and nieces.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church on Tuesday October 19, 2005. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
