Michael B. Sherlock

d. April 12, 2016

Michael B. Sherlock, 68, of Hooksett, NH died peacefully on April 12, 2016 at home surrounded by friends and family amid stories, songs, and laughter. He passed as he had lived - with dignity, music, and love.
Born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on November 4, 1947, he was the son of Francis Joseph and Mabel (Simmons) Sherlock. He was educated in the Ft. Lauderdale school system and graduated from Stranahan High School where he developed his love for football as the quarterback of the Dragons. It was during this time that he also began his lifelong love of guitar.
Michael owned and operated the successful real estate appraisal company, Sherlock Appraisal Associates, for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors and served in many leadership positions including Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He also served as State Director of the New Hampshire Board of Realtors. Michael was a Past President of the Exchange Club of Manchester and a member of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed volunteering at Camp Mayhew.
Michael enjoyed writing songs, playing guitar, gardening, and smoking a good cigar on the deck of his Nantucket cottage after a long day on Madaket beach (usually sporting his island goatee). Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Children loved him; he was "Papa Mike" to them all.
Michael lived his life with passion for his music, dedication to his profession, devotion to his family and kindness to everyone he met. His constant support, positive attitude, and good humor will leave a hole that can never be filled. Thankfully the time we had with him will provide us with light forever.
Family members include the love of his life, his wife of 46 years, Karen (Abel) Sherlock of Hooksett; his daughter, Shawne Sherlock Broderick and her husband Mac Broderick of Hooksett; his grandchildren, Chance, Macy, and Sawyer Broderick, Jack Ledwell; his honorary grandchild, Josane Cumandala; his brother in law and sister in law John and Jane Abel of Columbia, MO; and his brothers in music, Brandon Lepere of Exeter and Mike Kennedy of Peterborough.
A celebration of his life was held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at New England's Tap House Grille, 1292 Hooksett Rd, Hooksett.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, Attn: Donor Services, 1818 Library Street, Suite 500, Reston, VA 20190 (www.fallenpatriots.org) or to The Mayhew Program, PO Box 120, 293 West Shore Rd, Bristol, NH 03222.
