Mildred Mary (Charest) Lussier passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017 at the Aynsley Place Assisted Living Facility in Nashua, NH after a short period of declining health. She was the widow of Robert Lussier who passed away in 2013 after celebrating 73 years of marriage.
Millie was the daughter of the late John and Alphonsine Charest. She was born in Manchester, N H on February 7, 1919. She attended St. George Grammar School and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1938. After graduation Millie worked at International Shoe in Manchester where she met her husband Robert. They were married on September 21, 1940 and spent their honeymoon in New York City at the World's Fair.
Millie enjoyed reading, music, puzzle making and family. She also made clothes for her 4 children when they were young. In her leisure time she enjoyed trips to the beach and enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and Europe. She also enjoyed cruises with her favorite being the passage through the Panama Canal. Millie had resided in Claremont, NH, Belfast, ME, West Palm Beach, FL, Norwalk and Belleflower, CA before returning to the Manchester area. Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a senior clerk with Bechtel Company for many years.
After retirement Millie and Bob enjoyed card playing on Saturday nights, line dancing several times a week, as well as volunteering at the Catholic Medical Center and serving as Eucharistic Ministers on Sundays at St. Marie Church.
Immediate family members include her three sons, Armand Lussier and his wife Sandra of Pelham, N H, Maurice Lussier and his wife Carla of Pelham, N H, Ronald Lussier and his wife Mary Connor of Bangor, ME and her daughter Pauline Born and her husband Gene, of Kuna, Idaho.
She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Rita Leblanc of Rockport, ME along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Aynsley Place as well as the Home, Health and Hospice Care staff who provided Millie with warm and loving care.
A Christian Burial Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Marie Church, Manchester, NH. Burial followed at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home, Health, and Hospice Care in Merrimack NH.
