Monique O. Chamberlain

March 16, 1926 — April 1, 2014

Monique O. (Chaput) Chamberlain, 88, of Manchester, died on April 1, 2014 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, in the company of loving family.

She was born in Bedford on March 16, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Aurelie (Beaudet) Chaput. She attended local schools in Manchester and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Prior to her first retirement in 1989, Monique worked as a housing manager at the City of Manchester's Lowell Street woman's shelter, a role that brought her a great sense of accomplishment. She went on to work and to volunteer at the William Cashin Sr. Center, reaching her final retirement at the age of 84 years young. Monique was a former member of St. George Parish for many years, becoming a parishioner of St. Raphael's Church in 1989 when she moved to the Reverend Burns High Rise. She also had a longtime association with St. Marie's Parish, working in the church bookstore and as a member of the Community of Living Waters Prayer Group. Monique also served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a Secular Franciscan, dedicating her time and knowledge to teaching others the Franciscan way of life that she so embodied. Many will remember Monique as an inspiration, as well as a very talented "bingo caller" both at the Burns Community and Cashin Senior Center. Her family will remember her as a thoughtful and loving mother, and grandmother, above all else.

Monique was predeceased by her late husband of 31 years, Armand Chamberlain and her daughter Elaine Leclerc, as well as 11 brothers and sisters.

Surviving family include two daughters and their families; Diane McLaughlin of FL, and her son Dean McLaughlin of Manchester; Gale Mender, her husband William, and their two daughters, Emily and Alayna, all of Windham; her late daughter Elaine's children, Shelley Leclerc of NC, and David Leclerc of FL; brother Raymond Chaput and his wife Cindy of VA; sister-in-law Julia Chaput, wife of the late Maurice Chaput; brother-in law Paul St. Hilaire, husband of the late Olivette; and sister-in-law Pauline (Chamberlain) Veilleux and her husband Roger; along with two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. Raphael Parish, 103 Walker St. Committal prayers followed in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd. Monique would be honored by memorial donations in lieu of flowers, to: Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH, 03054, so that "her angels here on earth" might continue to serve other families in her memory.
