Muriel J. Menken

Muriel J. Menken, 84, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, surrounded by the love and support of her family after a brief illness.

Born on June 4, 1941, in Berlin, New Hampshire, Muriel was the daughter of the late George and Antoinette (Valliere) Gregoire. She was raised in Berlin and graduated from Notre Dame High School, Class of 1959. A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Muriel was devoted to the Catholic Church throughout her life. Though she once felt called to religious life, she ultimately found her greatest purpose in marriage, motherhood, and caring for others.

Muriel shared a loving marriage with her late husband, Sumner H. Menken. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and compassion as they raised their three sons. Muriel had a generous spirit and a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. She was an active and devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, where she especially enjoyed helping prepare and serve memorial meals for families in times of need.

Among Muriel’s greatest blessings and proudest joys were her granddaughters, whom she loved dearly.

Muriel is survived by her three sons: Paul, Thomas and his wife Jennifer, John and his wife Elyse; her granddaughters: Lindsey, Whitney; her sister-in-law: Patricia Gregoire; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Gregoire, and her sister, Lucille Gregoire.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 14 Elm Street, Manchester. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Augustin Cemetery in Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Granite VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St., Concord, New Hampshire, 03301, whose compassion, care, and support brought comfort to Muriel and her family in her final days.
