Muriel L. Proulx

May 28, 1941 — October 5, 2023

Muriel Lucille Proulx, 82, of Goffstown, NH, passed away on October 5, 2023. Born on May 28, 1941, in Claremont, NH and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Muriel was a loving mother, kind to all, and generous with her time. She had a hilariously funny sense of humor that brought joy to those around her.

Many who grew up in Goffstown in the 70’s and early 80’s may remember her as their school bus driver. Muriel had a variety of jobs throughout her life, but it was her career as a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) that brought her the most fulfillment. She cared deeply for the residents she looked after and brought much joy to their lives.

However, her true passion and favorite role were that of a nurturer to her family. As a widow with a preteen daughter and a rambunctious young son, Muriel was the epitome of a strong, loving mother. Despite the challenges she faced, she handled them with resilience, humor, and an abundance of love. She never let her children know about any financial struggles and always made sure they felt safe and loved.

In addition to her career and role as a mother, Muriel found great joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She took an active role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating countless memories filled with laughter and love.
Muriel's nurturing spirit extended beyond her human family as she had an incredible heart for animals. Throughout her life, she fed and rescued strays and donated to charities involved in animal rescue.

Muriel is survived by her sister, Anita Holland; her daughter, Michele Duval, and husband Norm Duval; her son, Kevin Proulx; her stepson, Eugene L Proulx Jr.; her grandson, Anthony Richard, and wife Erica; her granddaughter, Lindsay Richard and fiancé Nick Pigeon; her great-grandsons, Connor, Jamison, Nathan, Weston, Wyatt, and Nolan; and her great-granddaughter, Violet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L Proulx; her stepdaughter, Janet R Proulx; and her parents, Maurice and Jeanne Mercier.

Those who wish to honor Muriel's memory can make contributions to the local animal shelter or the Alzheimer's Association. Muriel's love for animals and her desire to help those affected by Alzheimer's disease will continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Muriel Lucille Proulx will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
