Myong Ok Ratacik

May 27, 1957 — August 25, 2023

Manchester

Myong Ok Ratacik, 66, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, August 25, 2023, with her beloved sons at her side. Born in South Korea on May 27th, 1957, to the late Kyong Kwan Yi and Chong Kyo Kim. Myong immigrated to the US after falling in love with her late husband Roderick Ratacik at the US military base in South Korea. The couple went on to marry and settle in New Hampshire.

Myong and Roderick had two sons, Joseph and Joshua, whom she devoted her life to raising. A selfless, humble, and hardworking single mother for many years, Myong held a long career at Insight/L3 technology. She then went on to open Merrimack Valley Dry Cleaners in Hooksett, NH. Myong always took the time to pay the extra attention and all who entered her store were greeted with a warm and genuine smile.

Myong will be remembered most for that genuine smile, her loving heart, kind soul, will of steel, and her ability to quietly support everyone in ways they didn’t know they needed. Her incredible cooking will be missed and remembered by all who have had the pleasure of eating her Korean food. She was a devout Christian who faithfully attended Sunday sermons and bible studies. Her faith in God was unwavering and she ensured she walked in his footsteps throughout life.

Above all, she adored her three grandchildren and was incredibly proud of her sons. She taught her family loyalty, devotion, dedication, perseverance, and kindness. Lessons they will all carry on in their everyday lives.

Myong is remembered by her children; Joshua Ratacik and his wife Samantha of Hooksett and Joseph Ratacik of Manchester; three grandchildren, Avery, Dean, and Logan; two brothers Hung Sik Yi, and Kwang Sik Yi; and two sisters Myong Hui Yi, and Myong Nan Hurst ; sister-in-law Donna Ratacik; and brother-in-law Thomas Ratacik and his wife Lisa; and many dear friends, nieces, and nephew.  Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by two brothers Chom Sik Yi and Pu Sik Yi.
