Nicholas Charles "Nick" Harrington, 21, of Bedford, NH, passed away after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer on June 29th, 2016. He was the son of Jeffrey C. Harrington and Stephanie (Bachi) Harrington. In his final moments, Nick was surrounded by his parents, sister and brother, four grandparents, every aunt and uncle, all 11 cousins, dear friends from grammar school, high school, and college as well as law enforcement officers representatives from a local and federal level, which is a testament to who he was.
Nick was born in Manchester and raised in Bedford. He graduated from Trinity High School and completed his junior year at Plymouth State University where he started the Plymouth State Golf Club. Nick enjoyed playing golf, baseball, snowboarding, football, basketball and all outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. He looked forward to the annual Harrington guys fishing trip at Tall Timber Lodge.
Nick enjoyed hanging with his friends at 14 Pleasant, The Lucky Dog and the "not-so" Secret Beach. He loved being with his family, his dogs and going to the gym. Nick as the middle child was the families glue. His older sister, Heather, was his idol and he was the ultimate protector of his younger brother, Ryan. His cousin Toren, 10, described him as the "Wednesday" that stuck together Monday and Tuesday to Thursday and Friday.
Nick enjoyed helping others by rallying around causes that he was passionate about including David's House, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, Kristen's Gift and being a part of the Warren Miller events. He hoped his future would include supporting the different charities associated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund. In lieu of flowers, we ask in support of his dreams that people make donations to "Dr. Richard Stone's Leukemia Research Fund". Nick and our family would like to the thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHAD), Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
"Copper is up there waiting for her buddy to take her out to the pool, and that the sun is shining, the beers are cold, the courses are green, and the mountains are fresh with powder all waiting for you."
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister and brother, Heather and Ryan, grandparents Paul and Deborah Harrington and Charles and Phyllis Bachi, his aunts and uncles Kevin Bachi and Roz Anton, Scott and Christine, Michael and Lynn, Brian and Kym, and Pam Harrington. His cousins are Nate, Matt, Liane, Thomas and Emily, Patrick and Jacquelyn Harrington and Mackenzie and Connor Robert as well as the littlest ones Toren, Liam and Aubrey Harrington.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "Dr. Richard Stone Leukemia Research Fund" at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215.
