Nicholas Prystas, 86, of Manchester died August 17, 2004 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Manchester on July 2, 1918, he was the son of Gabriel "Harry" and Anna (Sworen) Prystas. He lived in Manchester most of his life.
During World War II and the Korean War he served in the US Army. He served a total of 14 years and was discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant.
He saw active duty as a parachutist with the 11th Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He also was a member of the European Region National Ski Patrol in Germany.
Mr. Prystas had worked for the US Postal Service for 12 years.
He was married to Ursula (Rower) Prystas who died in 1989.
The family includes three children, Forrest W. Prystas of Goffstown, Belinda Reed of Baltimore, MD and Cynthia Royer of Florida; two step sons, Donald Prystas of Manchester and William Prystas of California and three grandsons.
IN HIS LIFE: He is also survived by his loving daughter in law, Anne Prystas of Manchester and his dear friend, Barbara Nutter of York Beach, ME.
After cremation, burial was in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
