Nicholas "Chic" Andrew Statires,89, of Manchester passed away on September 5, 2018 after a short illness.
Born in Manchester on August 19, 1929, he was the son of Andrew and Evangeline (Papanastasiou) Statires. He was educated in the local school system.
He was predeceased by his loving and caring wife, Eileen (O'Connor) Statires with whom he shared 16 years of marriage prior to her death in 2008. Also that same year, his former wife and mother of his children Mona had passed. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and step-father.
He played basketball for Central High School and after serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Nicholas spent his life as a business entrepreneur with his brother James. They began operating a family grocery store "Maple Super Market" in Manchester, to the megaplex business endeavors, Diamond C Market and Seagate Motel & Restaurant at Hampton Beach.
During the off season time working at Hampton Beach he was an avid golfer at The Derryfield Country Club, took care of his apartment buildings and sold Real Estate for Park Place Real Estate. He was also active within the St. George Greek community throughout his life working at Glendi's Bingo, coaching basketball and serving on various Cathedral boards.
He was also a major sports fan of golf, football and baseball. Almost every time you went to his house there was a game on the television.
Nicholas leaves behind his two children, Gregory Statires and wife Tracey of Manchester, Lynn Kram of Pine, CO; step-children, Cindy Turner and husband Eric of Nashua, Richard Cloutier of Valley Center, CA, Dennis Cloutier and wife Elise of Manchester, Christine Maguire and husband Alan of Manchester, and Colleen Cloutier of Bostic, NC; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Charles Statires.
The funeral was held on Monday, September 10, 2018 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Manchester. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
