Norman E. Gabert, 66, of Manchester, NH, died March 25, 2008 in Orlando, FL after a short illness.

He was born in Manchester, NH, on March 5, 1942, the son of Albert and Evelyn (Sansoucie) Gabert. He was a graduate of Manchester Memorial High School and had been a lifelong resident of the Manchester area.

He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

Mr. Gabert formerly owned Marlin RV in Candia. He later worked at Holmes Transportation for 20 years, then at the Manchester Transit Authority. He was recognized by the transit authority for his efforts in saving the life of an MTA passenger.

He was an active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed playing the trumpet, watching NASCAR and spending time with his grandchildren.

IN HIS LIFE: Members of his family include his wife of 45 years, Linda (Ellison) Gabert of Manchester; two daughters, Norlyn M. Florence and her husband Chester of Apopka, FL, Mary Ileen Michaud of Manchester; two sons, Darryl J. Gabert and his wife Jeannie of Hill, NH, David A. Gabert and his wife Susan of Manchester; fourteen grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Marie Gabert of Allenstown, NH, Yvonne Ellison of Litchfield, and Doris Ellison of Manchester; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, Albert and Eugene Gabert, and two brothers-in-law, James and Edward Ellison.

SERVICES: The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday March 31, 2008 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Litchfield. Burial was at the convenience of the family at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield, NH, 03052.
