Normand L. Morais

January 10, 1939 — May 11, 2017

Normand L. Morais, 78, of Manchester passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. Norm was born in Lowell, MA on January 10, 1939 to the late Camille and Albina (Dion) Morais. He has been a resident of NH since 2001, previously living in Chelmsford and Lowell MA.

Norm received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston MA and was employed at BAE Systems (formerly Sanders Associates) for almost 40 years. He worked in the quality organization, serving as the Director of Quality Assurance for 20 years. His customers and coworkers remember Norm for his commitment to the integrity of products delivered to our US Armed Services, his good nature and engaging style, and close personal connections with people.

Living at the Dockside II community on the Merrimack River, Norm loved the scenic river, walking downtown daily to meet friends at the YMCA, visiting his favorite local restaurants and wait staffs, and fully enjoying life with his close friends.

Norm fought an inspiring battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), keeping his signature positive attitude throughout and bringing joy to everyone around him. He will be dearly missed by his children David Morais, his wife Ella of Chattanooga, TN and their children Noah, Hannah and Josiah Morais; Steven Morais, his wife Anne of Litchfield, NH and their children Michael and Matthew Morais; and Paula Wingreen, her husband Stephen of Christchurch, New Zealand and their children Stephen and Christopher Wingreen. He is also survived by his two sisters, Claire Constantine of Tyngsboro, MA and Pauline Lee, and husband Nick of Lake City, SC.; his friend and former wife, Mary Morais of Chelmsford, MA; and his companion, Teri Champigny of Windham, NH. He will be missed by his many nephews and nieces; and his "adopted" children and grandchildren of the late Sandy Haught (the Donovan, Haught and Leal families).

His family would like to thank the wonderful organizations and people at Mass General Hospital, Compassionate Care ALS, Living at Home Senior Care, and Home, Health and Hospice Care for deeply caring for Norm throughout his journey.
