Oscar A. Peters, age 88, died on Friday, December 22, 2017, in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by the comfort of his family. He was born on September 6, 1929, in Taunton, Massachusetts, to Louis and Evelyn Peters and was the youngest of 9 children. Oscar was a star football player and leader at Coyle High School in Taunton. He proudly served his country as a sergeant in special services in the United States Marine Corp. He married Patricia Charlotte Hill and together they had six children. Oscar was a college bookstore entrepreneur whose company expanded to over 20 locations across the United States. After the passing of Patricia, he married Jane Wallace Morris and shared dual residences in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, and Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his brother, Louis Peters (Lucille), his brother-in-law, Donald Hill, his children Robin Whittier (Tom), Timothy Peters (Brenda), Steven Peters (Kerry), William Peters (Sheila), Joseph Peters (Sherry), Thomas Peters (Jennifer), Meredith Bender (Kevin), Margaret Shoemaker (Herb), Gregory Morris (Jamie), 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He valued most in life his family, his friends, his country, his business accomplishments, and time at Lake Winnipesaukee. A memorial Mass was held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Anselm College Abbey, 100 St. Anselm Dr., Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Oscar's memory to Saint Anselm College, 100 Saint Anselm Drive, Manchester NH 03102, for the Oscar Peters Endowed Scholarship Fund.
