Oscar was born in Manchester, NH, on May 27, 1929, the son of Adelard and Fabiola (LaSante) Soucy. He was a graduate of St. Marie's High School in Manchester. He was employed as a grocer for many years by Champagne's and Grand Union Supermarkets, and later went on to own and operate Amory Supermarket. Later in his career, he was employed by Mr. Grocer until his retirement in 1988.
Oscar will be remembered as a loving father and Pepe who always put his family first. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed golf, puzzles and games, and the Red Sox during his spare time.
Family members include four sons, Richard "Chip" Soucy and wife Carol, of Manchester, Donald Soucy and wife Anne Higgins, of New Brunswick, Canada, Bob Soucy and wife Judy, of Manchester and Dave Soucy and wife Wendy Ryback-Soucy, of Manchester; two daughters, Denise Roberge and husband Fred, of Manchester and Judy Nault, of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brother, C. Arthur Soucy, of Manchester; two sisters, Lillian Carreau, of FL and Florence Carey, of MA; sister-in-law, Juliette Soucy, of Manchester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by both parents; three brothers, Bertrand, George and Lionel Soucy; and two sisters, Rachel Gagnon and Theresa Meadows.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2013 in the chapel of Mt. Carmel Health Care Facility, 325 Myrtle St., Manchester, NH 03104. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breathe NH, 145 Hollis St., Unit C, Manchester, NH 03101 or to N.H. Catholic Charities, PO Box 686, Manchester, NH 03105-0686.
