He was born in Goffstown on December 2, 1954 to Otis and Ludegera (Santos) Chase Sr. He grew up and lived in Manchester for many years before moving to Center Ossipee in 1990.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and with the Army National Guard during the 1970's. He later worked as a corrections officer at Hillsborough County Jail in Manchester and at Lakeview Oil Company in Wolfeboro.
Otis was proud of his Native American heritage and helped educate people throughout New Hampshire and Maine on its culture. He was also very involved in the community of Center Ossipee and had made donations every year to Old Home Week.
He was a longtime member and former Chief of the NH Intertribal Native American Council.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, who had also fought Huntington's Disease.
The family includes his wife of 36 years, Sandra L. (Gallant) Chase of Center Ossipee; five children, Otis B. Chase III of Center Ossipee, Johanna Butler and her husband, Dave, of Moultonborough, Janice Garland and her husband, Brian, and Jessica Clancy all of Center Ossipee, and Jaime Burkett and her husband, Jack Jr., of Madison; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and many brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Otis's life was held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Center Ossipee Town Hall on Main Street in Center Ossipee.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
