Patrick Henry Joyce, 78, of Manchester, died April 10, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Illion West Village, Galway, Ireland on January 22, 1939, he was the son of Patrick and Annie (O'Malley) Joyce. He received his education in Ireland and emigrated to the United States in his early twenties.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Keyspan Gas Company for many years. He was a member of the Massachusetts Laborers Union and Steelworkers Union.
Patrick "Papa" was a devout Catholic and a member of the Ancient order of Hibernians. He enjoyed giving a helping hand to everyone in need. His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his family. He loved attending his granddaughters sporting events. Known for his Irish wit, his kind eyes and infectious smile, he was happiest when "JUST PUTTERIN AROUND."
Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished time spent with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Teresa A. (Travis) Joyce of Manchester; his children, Patrick Joyce Jr. and wife Lisa of Manchester, Lori (Joyce) Meservey and husband Paul of Manchester, Brendan Joyce of Manchester; his grandchildren, Molly Kate Meservey, Erin Kelly Joyce and Shannon Kathleen Joyce, all of Manchester; his mother-in-law Theresa Travis of Manchester, his siblings Ann Finn (Jim) of Goffstown, Michael Joyce, Thomas Joyce (Bridget), Margaret Corrigan (Barney), Mrs. Mary Joyce all of Ireland.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Bridget, Martin, Mary, Festus and Peter.
Patrick also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Blessed Sacrament Church, South Elm St. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
