Paul L. Cote

Paul L. Cote, 85, of Manchester died August 16, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Amesbury, MA on July 6, 1924, the son of Paul V. and Florida (Sarasin) Cote. After graduating from Amesbury High School in 1943, he joined the US Marine Corps.

He served as a telephone lineman with Head Quarters 2nd Battalion 29th Marines 6th Marine Division on Okinawa during WWII and in China for the Repartition of Japanese soldiers after the War.

Mr. Cote was a line type operator and compositor for the Union Leader Corp for over 30 years.

An active outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He was also a dedicated volunteer at the VA Medical Center. Paul was past commander and Plank owner of the Granite State Detachment #542 of the Marine Corp. League.

Family members include his wife of 52 years Adrienne (Dussault) Cote of Manchester; one son, Paul L. Cote Jr. of Manchester; three daughters, Michelle Haas of Deerfield, Catherine Sparks of New Bern, NC, and Elaine Cote of Manchester; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his sisters, Marie Lawrence and Jeannette Rogers of GA; one brother, Armand Cote of GA; nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters Rita Senechal and Rose Bailey of Amesbury, MA, his brother Robert Cote of Stafford, VA, and nieces Rita Griffin, Linda Dyer and nephew Robert Bailey.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in St. Pius X Church, Candia Rd., Manchester. After cremation, interment with military honors took place on Friday, August 21, 2009 in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
