Paul J. Cowette

July 28, 1939 — March 24, 2025

Hampton

Paul J. Cowette, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 24, 2025 at his home in Hollywood, FL.

Paul was born July 28, 1939, in Manchester NH, to the late Bernard H. and Josephine (Ziemba) Cowette. Paul was raised in Manchester, educated at local schools and graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1958.

After graduating, Paul went to work as an ironworker at Ironworker Union Local No. 474. Paul’s love for building led him to residential building and he co-founded Cardinal Builders. Moving on from Cardinal Builders he started Cowette Construction which allowed him to focus on his passion for land development, putting together large developments throughout Manchester.

His true love was his family: his wife Susan, his daughter Megan and her children, Jack, Joe, and Stella. He extended his deep love to his god-daughter, Jennifer Pinard and her children Eli, Emma, and Ean who were like his own grandchildren. There were no better days than when everyone was gathered together.

Paul spent his winters in Hollywood, FL where he enjoyed family and friends visiting from out of town. During the summer months he split time between Hampton, NH, but his favorite place to be during the summer was in Pittsburg, NH on 1st Connecticut Lake, especially when his grandchildren were present. No matter what the location Paul always welcomed a get together, large or small. Although retired, he was never one to sit idle. He continually found new projects to work on and was the first one to get his hands dirty.

He was as we like to say: “Always on a crazy mission, always buying crazy and wild items, always keeping us on our toes.”

Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan E. (Vachon) Cowette of Hampton, NH; his daughter, Megan (Cowette) Hendee, and husband Peter of Shoreham, VT; three grandchildren, Jack, Joe and Stella Hendee; four brothers, Donald Cowette, and wife Karen of Gilford, NH, Richard Cowette of Derry, NH, Thomas Cowette and wife Leilani of Manchester, NH and Daniel Cowette and wife Catherine of Manchester, NH. He was predeceased by his siblings; Josephine Cowette, Robert Cowette, Bernard Cowette, and Patricia (Cowette) Field.
