Paul E. Hevey

Paul Emile Hevey, 87, formerly of Biddeford, Maine, died of heart failure October 27, 2010.

He was born in Biddeford, ME on January 24, 1923, the son of Magnus and Anna (Chagnon) Hevey. He had been a resident of Manchester for the past 40 years.

During WWII, he served in the US Army Medical Corps.

Mr. Hevey was the sole proprietor of a barber shop for 36 years in Nashua, NH and was awarded a key to City of Nashua. He was an active member and Eucharistic Minister for his church, and was a Eucharistic Minister for local nursing facilities and hospitals. He started a Rosary prayer group with St. Anthony Parish that has been meeting weekly for the past 23 years.

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for the past 50 years having held officer positions which included Grand Knight Navigator, Captain of the Degree Team, Grand Past Commander of the Order of Alhamber Elferi Caravan 119. In addition, he ran the retreat house for the Knights of Columbus for 23 years, was awarded the Eugene Turcotte Award of Mission of the Oblates from Rome and was also named Knight of the Year for the State of New Hampshire.

Paul was also past president of the Magicians of IBM Black Richard Ring 166 of the State of New Hampshire and held meetings at his home for 28 years. He voluntarily performed magic acts for various nursing homes, children's groups, and clergy. Mr. Hevey was also a member of the Legion of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood and devoted his life to helping other people and his church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Muriel (Berthiaume) Hevey in 1984. Family members include his brother-in-law Arthur Letendre of Biddeford, ME; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Belmont St. Burial with military honors was held Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford, ME.
