Paul E. Houle

Paul E. Houle, 88, of Bedford died January 1, 2011 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born in Manchester on October 13, 1922 to Emile and Victoria (Desaulniers) Houle. He grew up in Manchester and lived in Goffstown for 54 years before moving to Bedford two and a half years ago.

During World War II he served in the US Navy.

Mr. Houle worked in his family's beauty supply business, A.J. Houle Company in Manchester for 40 years.

As a member of the Richelieu Club, he organized Christmas parties with gift giving for the Pine Haven Boys Center in Allenstown. He also volunteered at New Horizons for New Hampshire in Manchester for 10 years.

He was a longtime active communicant at the former St. Edmond Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and playing horseshoes.

The family includes his wife of 62 years, Yvonne (Desaulniers) Houle of Bedford; three children, Claudette Kettinger of St. Johnsbury, VT, Michael Houle of Goffstown and Denise Marden of Hooksett; five granddaughters and three great grandchildren; a sister, Claire Duhaime of Hooksett; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

IN HIS LIFE: The family also includes a sister in law, Madeleine Houle of Bedford.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, 235 Myrtle St., Manchester. Private burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
