Paul Joseph Leonarczyk (Fr. Theophan), 65, of Manchester, died April 17, 2021 at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 15, 1956 to Edward and Eleanor (Kilczewski) Leonarczyk. He and his family lived in Manchester for many years.
He earned a bachelor's degree from John Carroll University and a master's degree in Theology from Catholic University.
Fr. Theophan was chancellor of the Diocese of Newton Melkite Catholic Church of America. He authored several theological works, notably the Publicans Prayer Book for the faithful. He was a professor at Magdalene College in Warner and served as a chaplain at Thomas More College in Merrimack. Prior to this, he was headmaster at Catholic high schools in Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, and New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Terri (Jabaley) Leonarczyk of Manchester; two children, Mary Leonarczyk of Boston, MA and Nicholas Leonarczyk of Manchester and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Edward Leonarczyk.
SERVICES: A calling hour is Wednesday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church, 140 Mitchell St., Manchester. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the church. Committal prayers will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
