He was born in Cambridge, MA on May 18, 1945 to John and Ruth (Melanson) McCarthy. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, St. Anselm College and Lowell Technical College. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Mr. McCarthy worked as an engineer with General Electric for 37 years and retired in 2002.
He coached youth athletics for many years, including CYO, Trinity High School basketball, Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball. He was also an avid fisherman and skier.
His family meant everything to him and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The family includes his wife of 47 years, Pat (Cronin) McCarthy of Manchester; three children, Paul McCarthy Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Manchester, Cynthia Latsha and her husband, David, of Litchfield, and Peter McCarthy and his wife, Hildy, of Long Island, NY; three grandchildren, David Latsha, Ryan Latsha and Lila McCarthy; nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Meadow.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, August 4, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Francis Way, Litchfield. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
